CNR – IFN
Consoglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – Istituto di Fotonica e Nanotecnologie
IFN (Istituto di Fotonica e Nanotecnologie) belongs to CNR (Consoglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), the largest public research institution in Italy. The headquarters are located in Milan, within the Physics Department of Politecnico di Milano.
The overall activity of IFN concerns both fundamental and applied research fields. Applied research activities are oriented towards photonic devices, innovative materials, nanotechnologies and microfabrication, applications of lasers, exploitation of synchrotron light and X rays. Fundamental research activities concern several aspects of the radiation-matter interaction: strong-field physics of atoms and molecules, generation and exploitation of ultrashort XUV pulses, ultrafast spectroscopy of materials, time-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of solid-state media, development of high-intensity and ultrafast parametric sources.
