QUB

The Queen’s University of Belfast

Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is the main university in Northern Ireland (with 25,000 students and 3,700 staff), and is part of the Russell Group of the 24 leading, research intensive UK Universities. The QUB unit taking part to IMPULSE is the Centre for Plasma Physics (CPP), which is part of the School of Mathematics and Physics. CPP currently consists of 14 Academics, and 40 amongst postdoctoral and doctoral researchers, which are active across a broad range of research activities, mostly involving high-intensity laser-irradiation of matter, with a particular focus on the production and application of laser-driven particle sources. CPP hosts a state-of-the-art laser facilitiy (TARANIS), but CPP researchers are also frequent users of major national and international large-scale installations.
